Additional costs onboard

In addition to the basic annual contribution, each individual apartment owner pays for the digitally metered amounts of fresh water and electricity used only in their apartment on a monthly basis. These “utility” charges include a profit element that is decided by the owners committee probably about 20% over cost (not inc. depreciation). Any “profit” from these user charges is returned to the ships operating costs fund and used to defray the overall ships operating costs, for the benefit of all owners (see also optional 5 years guarantee).

Annual basic contributions are re-assessed at the end of each year of operation and may be adjusted up or down by the owners committee subject to forward projections made by the Captain, based on best available information, the next years cruise schedule, which is agreed with all owners plus taking into account the “income” obtained from the previous years operation.

Voting rights with respect to the on-board owners committee operations, where a vote may be required on matters that might affect, increase or decrease the individual apartment owners annual operating cost contribution (and additional costs), are adjustable. They are based as accurately as possible on time spent on-board / usage of the apartment / amenities / the individuals previous years annual contribution, plus a “loading” for the individual owners expenditure on board for electricity / water and such as supermarket purchases.

Note: Corporate voting rights in respect of Raffles Ltd., on matters that are not delegated to the on-board owners committee, regardless of the share purchase price deck A to E are related only to the m2 of apartment space and are not affected or enhanced in any way by deck level and total price paid.

Other than noted above, the annual contribution covers most of the costs of living on-board but does specifically exclude:

  • Any purchases from the ships retail outlets including any food and drink in restaurants / bars.
  • Prescription drugs / medicines.
  • Specialist medical consultants / care obtained from ashore.
  • Special medical insurances, including international / air evacuation.
  • Insurance of personal belongings, works of art, etc. in apartments.
  • Use of ships boats / vehicles that have an engine / must be maintained, inc. loading / unloading and or are crewed or may need special insurances for their operation.
  • Laundry, by the ships laundry staff.
