It is amongst the principle features of Raffles’ lifestyle that there is no hurry to do anything and you can probably sample, at your leisure anything and everything each place has to offer. Raffles will only be leaving when you its owners decide that it should. Staying days or even weeks, you have plenty of time to get to know the people, decide which are the best restaurants, explore the night life, clubs, bars, dancing and of course theatre and opera, all at your own pace. You are not a tourist but a traveller in the truest sense of the word.

The atmosphere on Raffles is always relaxed and casual at sea but particularly so in port when owners can meet by the pool side bistro for a sunset drink or a swim, looking out over the new surroundings and comparing notes on what they have seen, or what to do the next day.

Raffles is different too in that unlike mass cruise and even expedition ship port visits, which are generally limited to the immediate surroundings, with Raffles and its large boats, vehicles and aircraft you can reach out, even thousands of miles for your in depth exploration, from your comfortable base aboard.

The two 15m expedition / dive boats have a range of over a thousand nautical miles and sleep 6 in 3 ensuite cabins. They are equipped with everything for safe navigation including radar, sonar, and satcoms. They mean that if the “ashore” where Raffles is currently parked is not enough for you, then you can take off on your very own voyage of discovery, to a deserted island or the ten house pearl fishing village along the coast.

The unique marina on Raffles gives a whole new meaning to ashore. With its 38ft carbon fibre competition class sail boat sleeping 6 people, or its Hobie cats, you can sail all the worlds’ oceans and coasts, without ever leaving home.

Raffles 6 seat float plane, a true bush plane from Canada, can let you penetrate even thousands of miles inland from your current tropical base ashore to the ski slopes or the golf course on Lake Victoria, subject only to local operating restrictions.

The range of vehicles carried on Raffles, from bicycles – electric + normal, golf buggy, mini moke to its hybrid mini van, subject to local laws will let you get out of town into the country, wherever you are.

For amateur photographers, Raffles has its own photo lab. Residents will have an overwhelming wealth of material presented to them and just think of the pictures and movies you can e-mail to friends and family.
